Building upon its partnership with Apple, IT distributor Tech Data Corp. has introduced a new warranty tool for real-time activation of AppleCare Protection Plans on the heels of new Apple product purchases. Called TDWarranty, the AppleCare program makes protection plans available to Tech Data partners during the ordering process.
“TDWarranty provides a process for our solution providers when adding protection plans to their Apple purchases,” explains Greg Parsonson, Tech Data’s vice president of product marketing, client systems. “By adding a simplified way to purchase AppleCare Protection Plans, solution providers can offer their SMB customers an accurate, dependable, and cost-effective way to protect their Apple products.”
How It Works
TDWarranty incorporates automated, real-time activation of AppleCare Protection Plans, working in tandem with Apple to check serial numbers, hardware, and warranty registration to ensure accuracy during the ordering process. When adding AppleCare Protection Plans to an order, the process is streamlined through Tech Data, both in retail and commercial business lines.
Solution providers can now ship Macs or iPads from Tech Data directly to the end user, with Tech Data providing coverage through purchase of the protection plan. Retail partners can sell AppleCare Protection Plans at point of sale (POS) to end users using www.techdata.com or by loading Tech Data XML into their POS system. The proof of coverage will then be sent to the end user within 24 hours.
“Tech Data’s new warranty tool simplifies the process when adding AppleCare to purchases,” says Apple distribution sales manager Lou Acquista. “We want to thank Tech Data for their partnership on the warranty solution for our customers.”
