Security provider SecPoint is now offering a “Light” version of its Protector UTM Firewall. †
According to a SecPoint statement submitted to Channel Pro-SMB, the new “Light” version is “taking Unified Threat Management appliances to the next level” for SMBs by offering many of the same security features for small- and mid-sized business.
Protector Light includes such features as Firewall, Intrusion Detection & Prevention, Application Control, Web Filtering, Anti-Spam, Anti-Virus, Anti Phishing, and Content .
The entry-level system, for one to four users, is based on a SFF Small Form Factor device that enables IT managers to secure the entire network with a built-in application control, Web filter, content filter, and Web proxy, which give the administrator the ability to control all the content on the network.
Protector Light can be placed in front of a network and will protect against all external attacks from the Internet. It can also be placed locally (in front of the switch on an internal network) to block and record local attackers. It provides complete logs to show who was trying to access the network.
Network users can also be prevented from visiting auction sites, logging into private emails, browsing through social media, or accessing video sites during business hours. P2P traffic can also be blocked, preventing users from downloading illegal software.
Additional features include data leak prevention and a full mail archive (incoming and outgoing) on a 250 GB hard drive, and Fast Live Chat Support. Protector Light also offers automatic software and firmware updates.
To help persuade SMBs, SecPoint offers a Protector Light ROI Calculator on its website. Protector Lights costs $799, including the hardware box. †
