IT distributor Tech Data Corp. has created a Mobility Advisory Council. The introduction of the council was made at the company’s recent Client Systems Summit in Clearwater, Fla.
Tech Data established the Mobility Advisory Council to help “ensure the success of TDMobility and its mobility resellers.”
Tech Data’s mobile products comprise a portfolio it calls TDMobility. The products are “powered by” ActivateIT, which is a multi-carrier agent that provides channel pros with white label mobility activation products.
Through TDMobility, Tech Data partners will be able offer SMBs complete mobile solutions, from smartphones and tablets to activation services.
The new Mobility Advisory Council will hold collaborative strategy sessions and field “continuous feedback on the ease of doing business with Tech Data and its vendor partners,” according to the distributor. In addition, the council will serve as a sounding board for emerging trends and requirements for success in the mobility market.
“The mobility ecosystem is unique, featuring cutting-edge software developers, carrier partners and hardware manufacturers that have not traditionally leveraged the IT distribution channel effectively,” explains Heather Murray, Tech Data’s director of mobility. “The council will continue to provide collaborative support to guarantee the success of ur resellers.”
The council is currently made up of six reseller representatives, each selected through their interest in TDMobility or their current or past support of mobility offerings. Four additional members from the West Coast of the United States will be invited to join the council after becoming authorized TDMobility resellers.
Leading up to the February launch of TDMobility, the Mobility Advisory Council is conducting weekly conference calls to assist in providing the best offering to the channel. Following the launch, the council will hold monthly calls and meet biannually for three-day conferences. Dates and locations for 2012 are currently being finalized.
