The data backup and recovery solutions provider has launched BDRfacts.com in response to partner requests. Despite the company’s stake in the category, it vows to present unbiased competitor product information. †
Backup and recovery solutions provider Datto Inc. has launched BDRfacts.com. The website provides a platform designed to help MSPs and VARs make educated decisions about tech vendors in the channel.
The BDRfacts.com platform presents side-by-side comparisons of backup and disaster recovery products in the SMB space. Despite Datto’s stake in backup and recovery category, the company says it is “committed to keeping the site unbiased” and the information “as truthful and up-to-date as possible.”
In a statement submitted to Channel Pro-SMB, Datto CEO Austin McChord says it is his company’s job to be “straightforward and honest when informing people.” He adds, “With that spirit in mind, I invite everyone to view the comparisons and correct any inaccuracies.”
Inaccuracies or typos should be reported to Datto via email. Send any and all corrections to corrections@bdrfacts.com. If vendor is not listed on the site, there is a downloadable information sheet that should be filled out and returned to the same “corrections” email.
The website was developed in response to channel partners who apparently informed Datto about the need for such a comparison forum. “Many of our partners have expressed that it is difficult to understand the differences between backup vendors and this site seemed like a logical solution,” McChord explains.
Karen Hames, the company’s director of product, adds that rapid expansion inside the data backup and recovery market has made comparison even more difficult for VARs and MSPs. “There is a lot of noise out there right now,” she says, “and BDRfacts.com is one way to make it easier for solution providers to get the facts they need.”
If a BDR vendor is not listed on the site but would like to be included in the comparison, there is a downloadable information sheet available on BDRfacts.com that can be emailed to Datto for release on the site.
