Rackspace joins EMC’s Velocity Service Provider Program to help SMBs lower costs and improve efficiencies in cloud computing.
Cloud computing innovator Rackspace Hosting is joining EMC’s Velocity Service Provider Program. Through the program, EMC will work with Rackspace to enable delivery of “a wide variety of cloud-based IT services.”
In a press release submitted to Channel Pro-SMB, Jim Lewandowski, Rackspace’s senior vice president of worldwide sales, says his company’s end-users will benefit from “IT solutions from both companies on one seamless offering.”
The two companies have collaborated since 2001, leveraging such EMC IT infrastructure products as virtual storage cloud-based data management services. With the expanded relationship, the companies aim to help SMBs improve efficiencies and reduce costs.
Current service offerings include Rackspace managed Enterprise Private Clouds that are based on EMC Symmetrix VMAX and EMC VNX unified storage to deliver enterprise storage area networks.
Additionally, Rackspace will continue to provide data replication services based on EMC RecoverPoint, EMC Data Domain, and EMC Isilon products.
“As long time partners, the expansion of our relationship to develop new cloud-based solutions is a natural evolution,” says Dennis Hoffman, EMC’s senior vice president of service providers. “Rackspace’s foundation and ‘Fanatical Support,’ combined with EMC’s portfolio of products optimized for virtual environments will enable Rackspace to deliver innovative cloud computing offerings.”
