Network adapter innovator Napatech is touting its new 4 x 10 Gbps Ethernet network adapter, the NT40E2-4. The out-of-the-box adapter designed to support complex deployment scenarios.
The NT40E2-4 is designed for both Ethernet and SONET/SDH operation, supporting both Ethernet LAN and WAN PHY standards. It can also be deployed for passive packet capture based on taps or span ports for active in-line packet analysis as well as multi-port traffic generation.
With four 10 GbE ports, the NT40E2-4 provides higher port density, enabling more links and connections to be monitored. A four-port designs also enables simultaneous analysis of related connections, such as signaling paths or backup/failover connections. Moreover, higher port density reduces system cost per port for network appliances.
The NT40E2-4 provides nanosecond resolution time-stamping and hardware merge of port data. According to Napatech, “This allows high precision correlation of information from two separate connections. This is useful for high precision latency measurement and throughput performance measurement of network nodes.”
The NT40E2-4 provides the same comprehensive feature set as the 2 x 10 Gbps NT20E2 and 1 x 40 Gbps NT40E2-1. This enables plug-and-play compatibility with existing installations as well as the ability to upgrade to 40 GbE when required.
