The IT business social networking site’s new feature enables SMBs to solicit vendor quotes for technology goods and services, share quotes, and place orders directly within the Spiceworks network.
IT business social network Spiceworks Inc. unveiled new capabilities this week for automating and simplifying the process of purchasing technology and services.
The new Request for Quote (RFQ) features of Spiceworks enables SMBs to solicit vendor quotes for technology goods and services, share quotes with peers, and place orders directly within the Spiceworks network.
Features of the RFQ include:
- Anonymous Quote Requests — SMBs can anonymously request and receive bids from technology vendors regarding complex purchase requests.
- Multi-Vendor Support — Vendors receive RFQs electronically from Spiceworks users and can respond in a timely manner.
- Social Sharing — Spiceworks users can share their RFQs with co-workers to collaborate on the buying process.
- RFQ Templates — Users can save and reuse previously submitted RFQs for recurring technology purchases. †
The RFQ feature is the first of several forthcoming social commercial capabilities to be integrated into Spiceworks.
“Social commerce has changed consumer buying habits, but the approach has yet to take hold among businesses,” explains Spiceworks CEO Scott Abel. “The new RFQ feature is the latest of several capabilities we will unveil that aim to harness the collective-buying power of the Spiceworks network while also providing technology vendors a way to benefit from the growing wave of social commerce.”
