Websense has launched the TRITON series, a security product line designed to remove threats and risks while enabling email, social networking, cloud computing, and mobility. According to Websense, it is the first and only content UTM delivering security in a consolidated appliance with scalability and legacy controls that look at more than just the file and website.
The flagship offering, Websense TRITON Security Gateway Anywhere, combines Websense Web and Email Security Gateway technology in real time, including hybrid deployment and data loss prevention (DLP), into what Websense asserts is the world’s first unified content security gateway. The TRITON gateway consolidates on-premises email and Web security on a single Websense V-Series appliance, complemented by cloud-based SaaS components and DLP. The TRITON architecture is a modular system, so partners can can easily and efficiently expand coverage and services for customers as their needs grow.
The TRITON gateway also incorporates DLP, advanced encryption, and archiving for email. Websense TruEmail DLP uses Websense DLP technology to accurately identify confidential data, decreasing the risk of false positives and negatives and delivering full workflow and reporting. TruHybrid deployment capabilities ensure that spam is filtered in the cloud before it hits customer’s networks and confidential data can be secured on premises before it leaves the network. Websense’s TRITON also strips malicious links from incoming emails, in addition to blocking Web threats in browsers.
TRITON architecture unifies and consolidates security, which eliminates “bloated duplication” of systems, saving customers capex and opex. The unified elements also share intelligence with each other for protection against blended data-stealing attacks and internal threats. According to Websense, this unification lowers the total cost of ownership by 45 percent over other offerings, providing an ample selling point for security providers whose customers might be hesitant.
