Leostream Announces Connection Broker 7.0

Developer of software solutions for virtual hosted desktops uses the VMworld forum to announce the latest version of its flagship product.

Virtual, hosted desktop software developer Leostream Corp. used the forum of this week’s VMworld 2010 event in San Francisco to introduce the latest version of its Connection Broker software product.
Leostream Announces Connection Broker 7.0

Leostream Connection Broker is designed to deliver an optimal virtual desktop experience to end-users, at end-points ranging from laptops to thin-clients to handheld devices. It enables IT managers to integrate an array of clients, back-end systems and viewers to create a hosted VDI. It integrates with existing network infrastructure without making changes to essential data center systems, such as authentication services and SSL VPNs.

The latest version, 7.0, adds tighter integration with VMware View. It also sports high-performance graphics capabilities with its PC over Internet protocol (PCoIP). It also adds improved support for mobile devices, including Apple iPad and Apple iPhone.

Connection Broker 7.0 adds VMware enhancements, too, including cluster management capabilities.

Leostream Connection Broker 7.0 enhancements include:

  • VMware View Support–Tight integration that enables soft PCoIP connections for View users that require high-performance graphics.
  • Support for Apple iPad and iPhone–Through a partnership with Honeder Lacher Wallner Softwareentwicklung OEG, the Connection Broker now works with† the HLW iTap Remote Desktop Protocol and Virtual Network Computing clients, enabling end-users access to Windows and Linux virtual desktops with the popular Apple mobile devices.
  • USB Linux Support–USB redirect functionality is now available to facilitate use of fully functional Linux virtual desktops.
  • VMware Enhancements–IT administrators can create linked clones from snapshots of parent virtual machines, optimizing storage and improving image management. Leostream provisioning with templates extends VMware capabilities for data storage, and adds policy actions that define desktop limits and control desktop deletion while improving capabilities for scaling a VDI.
  • Cluster Management–Provides a unified view of all Connection Brokers in a cluster for simpler management of scaled VDI environments.
  • Improved OpenLDAP Support–Quick authentication of end users via OpenLDAP.
