Actifio’s Data Management Virtualization Solutions Hit the Channel
Company announces general availability of the first three solutions in the Actifio software suite: Actifio DP (for data protection), Actifio DR (for data recovery), and Actifio BC (for business continuity).
Waltham, Mass.-based Actifio is a new player in the data management virtualization field. This week, the company announced the general availability of the first three solutions in the Actifio software suite: Actifio DP (for data protection), Actifio DR (for data recovery), and Actifio BC (for business continuity).
All three solutions are built on Actifio’s VirtualData Pipeline (VDP).†
In a press release submitted to EH Publishing, Actifio says data protection, disaster recovery, and business continuity have long been business critical initiatives that have, at the same time, ranked poorly in terms of deployment, ease of use, and flexibility. “Deployments of multiple point tools have resulted in a complex and expensive infrastructure,” states the company, “with the cost of managing copies of data now exceeding that of managing primary business data.”
The company’s VDP technology aims to create a single virtualized solution for managing data across the entire lifecycle.
VirtualData Pipeline integrates capacity optimization with data de-duplication, compression, encryption, and network usage optimization to virtualize and optimize copy-store-move-restore operations. “Actifio DP, Actifio DR and Actifio BC not only drive down the capital expenses by copying less, storing less, and moving less,” the developer states, “the simplicity of the solutions establishes a new benchmark for reduced operational expense.”
With the VDP, users can re-use existing storage or de-couple their choice of cost-effective storage for data protection, disaster recovery, business continuity and other data management applications from primary storage. Actifio president and CEO Ash Ashutosh says the solution enables “the transformation of the data center stack to a fully virtual IT infrastructure.”
“Much like the server virtualization paradigm,” Ashutosh explains, “administrators can use data management virtualization to de-couple data protection, disaster recovery, and business continuity operations from the underlying storage infrastructure. The resulting simplicity, flexibility, and order of magnitude lowers cost.”
Actifio DP, DR and BC are available immediately.
