Gefen Extends HDMI 3DTV Runs with New Digital Signage Product
The new long-range extender employs HDBaseT technology from Valens Semiconductor to enhance HDMI v1.3 support with 3DTV.
The latest extender solution from the Gefen ToolBox line of wall-mountable hardware has hit the channel.
Aside from streamlining cables and enhancing HDMI v1.3 support with 3DTV, the Extender for HDMI 3DTV long-range extender offers an IR back channel for use with a remote control.
The extender also uses innovative HDBaseT technology from Valens Semiconductor to enhance the length and features of its high definition extension capability.
Gefen supplies a wide selection of signal switchers, splitters, extenders, scalers, converters, KVM, and digital signage solutions. Micha Risling, vice president of sales and marketing for Valens Semiconductor says Gefen was the first in the world to use the HDBaseT technology from Valens Semiconductor to power a long-distance extension solution for HDMI in this way.
“This technology nearly doubles the distance high definition video can be extended over just one CAT-5 cable,” Risling says.
Gefen president and CEO Hagai Gefen agrees, saying the “most compelling feature” of the new extender is “is its 3DTV extension support for the early adopters, reaching distances up to 100 meters using one CAT-5 cable.”
Indeed, small sender and receiver units link any hi-def source to an HDTV display using one industry-standard CAT-5 cable, delivering 1080p full HD with 3DTV pass-through, multi-channel audio and IR remote control up to 330 feet (100m).
The Extender for HDMI 3DTV is fully HDCP-compliant, with such features as locking HDMI connection cables and locking power supplies to improve performance and eliminate disconnects.
The Gefen ToolBox Extender for HDMI 3DTV comes in two custom finishes: a glossy cream or flat black.
