Texas Memory Rolls Out the RamSan-620 Flash SSD
Solid state drive is certified interoperable with Microsoft’s Windows Server 2008 R2 and delivers up to 5 TB of Flash in a single 2U chassis.
Texas Memory Systems, known for its speedy storage solutions, announced the new RamSan-620 Flash Solid State Disk (SSD) system this week. The new SSD system has been certified as interoperable with Microsoft’s Windows Server 2008 R2.
The RamSan-620 is a high-performance solid state storage system that delivers up to 5 TB of Flash in a single 2U chassis.
The Microsoft’s Windows Server 2008 R2 compliance certification means Windows Server 2008 R2 users can broaden such applications such as on-line transaction processing, data warehousing, high-performance data acquisition, batch processing, video editing, and SQL Server databases.
“Our customers demand performance without compromise,” Texas Memory Systems director of marketing Levi Norman told EH Publishing in a written statement. “We are committed to maintaining interoperability with all major platforms so that our customers can continue to take advantage of the world’s fastest storage.”
The RamSan-620 is a general purpose networked storage solution, with features that include SLC Flash, multiple levels of error correction coding, wear level algorithms, and RAID.
According to Texas Memory Systems, independent tests having validated the performance of the SSD as boasting 250,000 sustained I/Os per second (IOPS) for random reads and random writes, 3 GB per second bandwidth, and latency as low as 80 microseconds. A single 2U RamSan-620 utilizes 230 watts of power.
One or more units can be integrated into a mixed storage infrastructure and managed through a common management framework.
The RamSan-620 is available from Texas Memory Systems and its partner network.
