SpamTitan Partners with VMware on Anti-Spam Cloud Platform

App on Demand enables creation of on-demand, virtual appliances in the cloud. It is available through VMware’s Virtual Appliance Marketplace.

SpamTitan, maker of e-mail security solutions, has announced a new cloud computing initiative with VMware, a virtualization solutions provider. The partnership is providing on-demand e-mail security virtual appliances in the cloud.

Called App on Demand, the software helps customers hunt down a potential solution and experience the virtual cloud computing in action. It is available through through VMware’s Virtual Appliance Marketplace.

SpamTitan for VMware is a complete operating system and virtual e-mail security software suite designed to run on Vmware. It enables use on any server irrespective of the operating system.

Cloud computing for inbound e-mail filtering–such as handling anti-spam and anti-virus cleansing–has become increasing popular among many SMBs. It is for this reason, according to a SpamTitan press release, that it saw the value of marrying virtual appliances with advanced cloud computing technology.

App on Demand will ensure, says SpamTitan CEO Ronan Kavanagh, that “customers have the opportunity to use e-mail security and anti-spam solutions in the cloud–not in the SaaS model, but as their own dedicated on-demand application.”

The SpamTitan-VMware product benefits from the “redundancy, scalability and failover associated with virtualization and cloud computing,” says Kavanagh. He also cites costs savings and “increased IT control and service-level automation” as added benefits.

The drivers behind the uptake of cloud computing, Kavanagh says, “won’t change in 2009, especially with cost and environmental savings being the key motivators.”

Kavanagh calls cloud computing the “next-generation deployment phase for SpamTitan solutions.” He says it will enable SpamTitan to “offer even more flexibility, increased efficiency and lower costs.”
