Scott Lowe describes himself as “an IT pro specializing in virtualization, storage, and servers,” and provides plenty of content on his blog to prove it. His archives date back to May 2005, and he has been posting material almost every day since. You can search the archives by category, month, and year, which includes topics from interoperability to storage.
Posts vary in length from a few sentences to a few pages, but they are organized and framed with step-by-step instructions, bulleted points, and short lists giving advice. On the sidebar, recent posts are listed, as well as recent comments and bookmarks. Lowe’s blog also covers industry news, partnering, and different products relating to servers. He posts explanations, guides, strategies, and product comparisons. So stop worrying about all things server and consult the pro.
TechRepublic
This blog is truly like a republic. It is operated and run by a few IT professionals, but relies on a body of experts and contributors to keep the content fresh and informative. The site’s format is similar to an online magazine, in the sense that each post is headlined with a catchy phrase and followed by a short lead, which tells readers the gist of the post.
There are hundreds of posts on servers, and users can sort them by date, relevance, or popularity, perhaps to see what others are buzzing about. The site also has an interactive design; for example, many headlines are posed as questions such as, “Will virtual desktops change the face of your operation?” Others, like this one, are more like how-to guides: “Three ways to prevent data leakage due to typo-squatting.”
Like Lowe’s blog, TechRepublic also covers industry news and does product comparisons. If you want more control over what you read and prefer skimming through posts as opposed to reading each one, this blog is only a link away.
