Managed security is a big opportunity that imposes big responsibilities, according to multiple speakers at the latest SMB TechFest conference.

The Build IT event, taking place this week in the New York metro area, features more than 30 workshops and breakout sessions led by top thought leaders in the industry.

The two-day event offered sessions on growing an MSP business, transitioning to managed security services, and increasing monthly recurring revenue opportunities.

Held at TopGolf in Brooklyn Center, Minn., the one-day event featured cybersecurity educational sessions and peer networking.

Though the managed services vendor has a toe in the security water through steps like its alliance with email security vendor Vade Secure, business development exec Rob Rae (pictured) says it’s biding its time before rolling out anything more ambitious.

Timed to coincide with the vendor’s DattoCon event in San Diego this week, the software includes a beta edition of new HTML 5 remote control technology, an enhanced PSA mobile app, and a wide range of UI enhancements.

According to Datto Networking leader John Tippett (pictured), the new E310 switch family provides enterprise performance at an affordable price. The new Network Manager solution includes audit logging among other features MSPs need.

New and enhanced offerings showcased today at the vendor’s DattoCon event include an image-based business continuity solution for PCs, an email security add-on for the company’s SaaS Protection product, and a new edition of the SIRIS BDR appliance.
