D&H Begins ‘Cash on Clunkers’ Rebate Program
North American distributor says the pending Windows 7 refresh calls for “a more reasonable way for VARs to purchase PCs for upgrading.”
In anticipation of the upcoming PC upgrade cycle, D&H Distributing has instituted a “Cash on Clunker PCs” rebate program.
Beginning this month, D&H will offer rebates of $50 to $100 on select notebooks and desktops from Acer, Lenovo, and HP, many of which are upgradeable to the Microsoft Windows 7 operating system.
D&H will offer three editions of the Windows 7 upgrade (Home Premium, Professional, and Ultimate). Each edition will come in 32-bit or 64-bit formats, to accommodate both OEM and retail sales. Upgrade SKUs will be priced anywhere from $99 to $250.
Rob Eby, vice president of purchasing at D&H says “it makes sense” for the distributor to use this ‘clunker’ strategy right now. “The IT world is on the verge of a major Windows 7 refresh period, and our rebates create a more reasonable way for VARs to purchase PCs for upgrading. It presents a more economical way for them to transition their end users to the next generation of OS.”
D&H accounts are encouraged to visit the distributor’s web site for more information about the rebate program.
