Comstor to Roll Out Cisco’s New UCS
Distributor predicts Cisco’s Unified Computing System will usher in data center and virtualization opportunities.
Comstor Worldwide has announced that it will distribute Cisco’s Unified Computing System (UCS) solutions to channel partners around the world.
Comstor’s parent company, Westcon Group Inc., is a specialty distributor of networking, convergence, security, and mobility products. Westcon Group says Comstor will deliver the Cisco UCS solutions “to mid-market-oriented Cisco channel partners, supporting them through its solutions programs and advanced training opportunities.”
Cisco UCS integrates network, computational, storage access, and virtualization elements into a single cohesive system. Cisco is marketing the UCS platform as a space and money saver for mid-market companies, reducing IT hardware footprints and power consumption.
Comstor will be marketing the platform in a very similar way. Executive vice president Bill Corbin says the UCS is “driving opportunity in the channel.”
” The Unified Computing System integrates seamlessly into existing data center environments,” Corbin says. “It has already proven to deliver tangible business benefits while lowering operational costs.”
Corbin predicts the platform will result in “market opportunities in the virtualization and data center markets.”
For its part, Cisco issued comments lauding Comstor as a worthy distribution partner. “Comstor has an important role to play in the successful rollout and adoption of our virtualization and data center technologies,” says Cisco vice president of distribution Dave O’Callaghan. “Our mutual channel partners will benefit as Comstor Worldwide aligns its global operational infrastructure and becomes a proactive ambassador of Cisco Unified Computer System solutions.”
