Power protection and connectivity manufacturer Tripp Lite introduced a wall plate version of its USB over Cat5 Extender product this week.
The new USB wall plate (model #B202-150-WP) is designed to meet all the benefits of the previous model while also adding the professional, streamlined appearance that comes with a wall plate form factor. “Wall plates provide a clean, finished look to your wiring installation,” states Tripp Lite in a statement submitted to Channel Pro-SMB. “They allow USB peripherals, such as printers, whiteboards, hubs, etc., to be located where you need them.”
The USB over Cat5 Wall Plate Extender Kit is USB 1.1 compliant. It enables SMBs to connect a computer to USB peripherals up to 150 feet away from the host computer over ordinary Cat5/Cat5e/Cat6 cable. Rear-mounted RJ45 jacks also enable plug-and-play connections between wall plates
The Transmitter and Receiver kit is Bus-powered. So, no additional AC power adapters are required. The kit is also plug-and-play, meaning no special software or drivers needed.
