The latest iteration of the data loss prevention software boosts endpoint security features.
SMBs will now be able to guard and monitor the perimeters of their networks for data leaks and protect against endpoint data leaks, thanks to PacketSure DLP 8.5, according to its maker, Palisade Systems.
Palisade launched a comprehensive upgrade to its data loss prevention solution for SMBs this week. PacketSure DLP 8.5 provides endpoint protection for external devices, and it secures both the private content and the protocols running on a network, helping to ensure PII and PHT compliance for HIPAA/HITECH, GLB, SOX, and PCI.
According to Palisade, PacketSure 8.5 is “the only DLP solution” that secures both the private content and protocols running on a network. By securing the private content and protocols running on the network, PacketSure †helps SMBs more closely manage and limit how data can be inadvertently shared (i.e., peer-to-peer or unapproved instant messaging).
“Now more than ever, mid-sized and small businesses are realizing how important it is that they ensure they are safeguarding their confidential information, including social security numbers, credit card numbers and health and financial information from leaving their organizations,” says Palisade CEO Spencer Snedecor. “Failing to secure their networks from data leaks can potentially lead to catastrophic fines that can cripple them financially.”
PacketSure 8.5 analyzes files and data being transferred on a network in real time. It then identifies this type of data, blocks and quarantines it for later inspection, or sends it to a third-party encryption engine.
In addition, PacketSure’s Web filtering controls user access to sensitive sites organized in 40 categories, including pornography, online shopping, crime, and chat rooms. Organizations can either log user access to these sites or block access entirely.
PacketSure 8.5 adds a number of new tools, including:
- Endpoint Protection — Monitoring and blocking of files with content violations being copied to external.
- Safe Search — Search results exclude adult oriented content.
- Landing Pages — Top navigation tabs open on a landing page that contains icons for available features. Landing pages can be customized for easier navigation.
- Centralized Management and Reporting System — Appliances connected to a CMS can now receive URL list and software updates straight from the CMS rather than in a separate download from the Palisade servers.
