PlumChoice, a remote technical services delivery provider, is now offering SAFElink Anti-Theft, which protects the data stored on a laptop or notebook against theft or breach. The software-based system resides on the machine and communicates with the PlumChoice SAFElink server platform. Ideal for service providers with consumer and SMB customers, the SAFElink Anti-Theft software is compatible with any Windows-based laptop.
IT service providers can guide users and select specific files and folders to be protected by the Anti-Theft service. When loss or theft occurs, the device can be locked down. The user has a configurable period of time to authenticate and unlock the device – failing to do so means the data is wiped from the machine. If a user reports a device as lost, PlumChoice can set a poison flag so that when the device connects to the server, the data is immediately wiped.
The new Anti-Theft service is bundled with cloud-based data backup to allow users to securely retrieve their data event the user-selected data is wiped clean. As part of the Anti-Theft launch, PlumChoice is partnering with Intel to support Intel’s Anti-Theft Technology.
