The first Cybersecurity Congress opened Tuesday, January 20, in Westminster, Colo. Presented by the PSA Security Network, the two-day congress brings together C-level decision makers from both the IT and physical security industries that have purchasing and decision-making authority, to help them take action against cybersecurity threats.
Bill Bozeman (pictured above), president and CEO of PSA, gave the opening remarks. PSA Security Network is the world’s largest electronic security cooperative with more than 225 members responsible for over $2 billion of security purchas≠ing power serving all seven of the major vertical markets—healthcare, government, education, commercial, banking, transportation, and critical infrastructure.
In his address, Bozeman encouraged the high-level physical security professionals to learn as much as they can about cybersecurity, not to become cybersecurity experts, but to be aware of the threats and opportunities. For instance, Bozeman cited the importance of having an insurance policy in place to protect their firms from being sued if they failed to protect their customers’ networks and data. That and other pertinent issues are being addressed at this first-of-its-kind congress.
Bozeman noted that cybersecurity is a game changer. Not only is it becoming a mainstream managed service, but it introduces new revenue streams, he said.
