CompTIA has begun accepting nominations for the second annual Advancing Women in Technology (AWIT) Spotlight Awards, designed to recognize female leadership, guidance, commitment to community, and excellence in the technology industry. Its goal is to put a spotlight on women who are making an impact on the IT industry, or have the potential to contribute in the future.
Award categories are as follows:
- Technical Pacesetter Award: Recognizes an individual with superior technical skills who also is known in her organization and the innovation industry for exceptional customer or community service.
- Mentorship Guide Award: Recognizes an individual who is lifting up and promoting other women leadership in technology.
- Industry Leadership Award: Recognizes an individual who is leading the technology community through her innovative ideas, technology community participation, and engagement, and is active in her local community as well.
- The CompTIA/ChannelPro Cecilia Galvin Scholarship Award: Named in memory of former ChannelPro Network Executive Editor Cecilia Galvin, a passionate supporter of women in IT who passed on in 2017. This award recognizes a high school senior or recent graduate who is a leader in her school and community and has demonstrated an early interest in technology. The scholarship can be applied to a four-year college, trade school, or CompTIA certifications.
Last year’s inaugural recipient, Sarah Johnson, graduated from high school in Philadelphia and planned to study at the New York Institute of Technology.
You may nominate yourself or another outstanding member of the technology industry whom you feel is deserving of a CompTIA AWIT Spotlight Award. Candidates can only be nominated for one award.†All nominations must be received on or before June 1, 2019.
Award winners will be recognized at CompTIA ChannelCon 2019 (August 5-7, 2019) during the AWIT Community meeting in Las Vegas.
