CompTIA is now accepting nominations for the Cecilia Galvin Scholarship Award, named in memory of former ChannelPro Network Executive Editor Cecilia Galvin, a passionate supporter of women in IT who passed away in 2017. The goal of the award is to help a talented young woman with an interest in technology launch an education in IT.
The $5,000 scholarship will be offered to a senior high school student with a 2.0 or higher GPA, who is a leader in her school and community and has demonstrated an early interest in technology. The scholarship can be applied to a four-year college, trade school, or CompTIA certifications.
The inaugural recipient of the award was Sarah Johnson, a high school graduate from Philadelphia, in 2018. In 2019, Atlanta high school graduate Destiny Adams received the award.
“It’s hard to believe four years have gone by since we lost our dear friend Cecilia, but her presence lives on with our magazine, our website, and our events—all of which she helped build and loved participating in,” says Michael Siggins, president and publisher of The ChannelPro Network. “We are grateful for this collaboration with CompTIA to honor her. CompTIA and the channel are working hard to create more opportunities for women and all communities that we represent.
