Ingram Micro Names Paul Bay Global Head of Technology Solutions

In his new role, which he steps into on January 1st, Bay (pictured) will oversee Ingram’s technology solutions business worldwide, while retaining his current direct responsibility for the Americas.

Distributor Ingram Micro has promoted Paul Bay to the newly created post of executive vice president and president of global technology solutions.

Currently executive vice president and group president for the Americas, Bay will officially assume his expanded duties on January 1st. In his new role, he will oversee Ingram’s entire worldwide technology solutions business, which generated over $45 billion in revenue last year. He will remain directly responsible for the company’s Americas technology solutions unit.

Diego Utge, who becomes Ingram’s executive vice president and group president of Asia Pacific starting New Year’s Day, will report to Bay, as will Mark Snider, Ingram’s executive vice president and group president of EMEA. Bay will report to CEO Alain Monié.†

“Paul has been an integral part of our success during his tenure with us, and his industry insights and relationships have helped us further differentiate Ingram Micro and widen our lead over our competition,” said Monié in a press statement. “This new challenge is a logical next step in Paul’s career progression, and I am confident his leadership, including partnering with Mark and Diego, will enable us to continue to deliver outstanding financial performance, leverage our global capabilities in areas such as IT agility, partner enablement and end-user influence, and build further on the superior customer experience our partners have experienced. I look forward to continuing to work closely with Paul as we continue to deliver even greater value to our global customers and partners.”

Bay has been with Ingram since 1995, minus a four-year period between 2006 and 2010 during which he led home design and CAD solution vendor Punch! Software and then engineered its acquisition by software publisher and distributor Navarre Corp.

Since returning to Ingram, he has played an instrumental role in efforts that have helped the company add $2.5 billion of revenue in the U.S. over the last four years, and is presently spearheading a series of investments in tools and resources designed to extend that growth by enhancing partner satisfaction and efficiency.

“The globalization of the IT market presents an incredible opportunity for Ingram Micro to play to our strengths and accelerate our leadership position as the IT channel’s top-performing global business partner,” said Bay in prepared remarks. “This is an excellent opportunity to further broaden my leadership and industry experience, particularly on the international front, and I look forward to working with our country leaders. Together we will continue to build on our role as an indispensable business partner to the IT Channel, a channel that is critical to delivering quality technology outcomes, and one essential for end businesses to succeed in the digital economy. I appreciate the trust Alain has placed in me and I welcome the opportunity to lead our Global Technology Solutions business.”

In a further management shift set to start in January, Monié will dedicate an increased share of his time to further accelerating growth in Ingram’s cloud computing and Commerce & Lifecycle Services (CLS) businesses, in partnership with Executive Vice President and Cloud President Nimesh Dave and Executive Vice President and CLS President Ken Beyer.

“Nimesh and Ken have each done a fantastic job building thriving businesses that are helping power the growth of many of the world’s leading companies and emerging brands,” Monié said in a media statement. “Our Cloud and CLS businesses are already experiencing strong revenue and profitability growth, and we have the opportunity to accelerate our performance even more. I plan to spend significant additional time with the teams to further speed execution on our objectives, including increased investment to capture the tremendous market opportunities before us.”

Ingram expects its cloud and CLS divisions to contribute half of the company’s total profit growth in 2019.
