ASCII Success Summit Heads to New Jersey

The two-day educational and networking event touched on hot topics like the Internet of Things and and included business continuity lessons learned from Hurricane Harvey.

Another ASCII IT Success Summit is in the books, held last week in New Jersey. It was the eighth of nine summit events in 2018, geared to help MSPs grow their business, offer additional services, help their customers transition to the cloud, and increase monthly recurring revenue opportunities.

The summits bring together IT solution providers and technology vendors in a two-day format that includes extensive networking, education, and training. In addition to best-practice addresses from ASCII members and thought leaders, the special guest for 2018 is Theresa Payton, former White House CIO. Payton was the first female to serve as White House chief information officer, and was named No. 4 on IFSEC Global’s list of the world’s Top 50 cybersecurity influencers in 2017.

Jerry Koutavas, president of The ASCII Group, opened the pre-day. That was followed by educational sessions on security, marketing, and and more. The day concluded with an ASCII member meeting and evening networking reception.

On Thursday, keynote speaker Bradley Gross, managing partner at the law office of Bradley Gross, P.A., discussed how MSPs can avoid legal disasters.

The Internet of Things was also on the agenda. ASCII member Tim Martin, business development manager for Action Point Software Development, presented “It’s Happening Now—How One Company is Helping MSPs Generate Recurring Revenue Using IoT.”

And fellow ASCII member Lamar Curtis, president of IAG Business Technology, presented on “Lessons From the Field: Hurricane Harvey—What MSPs May Overlook in their Business Continuity Planning.”

There were also educational sessions on security, sales and marketing, VoIP, cloud backup, and more.

The day ended with a closing awards ceremony and giveaways.
