ChannelPro Mourns the Passing of Cecilia Galvin

Our executive editor died peacefully in her sleep. Words, which were her stock in trade, are incapable of expressing how much we’ll miss her.

It is with unspeakable sadness that the ChannelPro Network announces the passing of its executive editor, Cecilia Galvin.

Our beloved friend, tireless co-worker, spirited cheerleader, sympathetic confidante, and general partner in mischief passed away in Chapel Hill, NC. Cecilia had battled heart problems for several years. She is survived by her husband, Scott, and two daughters, Danica and Delaney.

Heart problems. Those words make little sense in this context. Before last week, any one of us at ChannelPro would have sworn our Cecilia had a heart too big to fail.

She threw that heart into everything she did, most especially her ceaseless, resourceful stewardship of our print magazine. Cecilia edited nearly every issue of ChannelPro since its debut a decade ago. She’s a huge part of why we continue to publish not only online but on paper 12 times a year.†

If you’ve attended any of our live events, you experienced Cecilia’s warmth, intelligence, and love of life firsthand from her work at the podium. If you listen to our podcast, you have at least a sense for what fun she was to be with.

And that, at the end of the day, is why the team—or really, family—here at ChannelPro is so devastated by this terrible news. Cecilia was the first person to applaud anyone’s accomplishments and encourage anyone’s latest venture. She made the most tedious meetings bearable, and deadlines a little less painful. If you had a problem, she wanted to help. If you had a project, she wanted to contribute.

We loved working with her, we loved laughing with her, we loved sharing time and an occasional glass of wine with her.

Mostly, though, we loved her. We always will.

We welcome any thoughtful comments you would like to share here.
