Ingram Micro, technology distributor and supply-chain services provider, has launched its Smart Steward recycling program, providing a way to dispose of small electronics and printer supplies in an environmentally friendly way.
Since launching its Smart Citizen global corporate social responsibility program last year, Ingram Micro has received ISO 14001 certification for its environmental systems in North America and updates its sustainability activities at the Smart Citizen website. The Smart Steward announcement is the latest example of how Ingram Micro works with its partners to contribute to a socially responsible global supply chain.
North American resellers can now utilize the company’s Smart Steward website, to arrange for the recycling of toner and ink cartridges and small electronic devices such as mobile phones, for which Ingram Micro provides a trade-in payment. Through the website, the reseller can also request shipping materials for the safe return of the recyclables. Resellers are able to set up accounts for both their own business and their customers. If a cartridge cannot be reused, it is recycled into other products.
