SMB customers without IT staff can offload ongoing management of their PCs, contends chipmaker Intel. The company has paired with Symantec to provide optimized solutions with remote management capabilities.
“By combining the right hardware with the right software, system builders can deliver solutions that improve efficiency and enhance productivity,” Intel says in a statement submitted to Channel Pro-SMB.
Intel Core vPro i5 and Intel Core vPro i7 processors are designed for manageability, security, and power efficiency. Symantec’s Altiris software products, including the Altiris Client Management Suite, manage and secure PCs via automation. By combining Intel vPro hardware with Symantec’s Altiris software, the two companies aim to provide system builders with solutions for SMBs that improve security, increase productivity, lower costs, and streamline management of notebook and desktop PCs.
The remote management capabilities of PCs built with Intel vPro technology and managed with Symantec’s Altiris platform can lead to faster identification and resolution of hardware and software problems. In addition, the pairing provides the following management features:
- Remote power-up of PCs to deliver patches and updates during off-hours
- Remote control of PCs via a secure console redirection with hardware-based KVM
- Secure, remote reboot capabilities
- Protected event log for problem diagnosis
