Egenera’s PAN Manager Software Now Verified as ‘Citrix Ready’
The ‘converged infrastructure’ has been deemed fully compatible with Citrix solutions as part of the Citrix Ready Program.
Egenera Inc.’s PAN Manager Software has been verified as Citrix Ready. The software developer’s product underwent a rigorous verification process to ensure compatibility with Citrix XenServer as part of the Citrix Ready Program from Citrix.
According to Citrix, the Citrix Ready Program “identifies verified solutions that are trusted to enhance virtualization, networking, and cloud computing solutions from Citrix, including Citrix XenDesktop, XenApp, XenServer, NetScaler, and GoToMeeting.
The Egenera architecture is based on standard server, Ethernet, switch, and storage arrays. When used with Citrix virtualization products, Egenera software provides an open alternative to other unified computing and converged infrastructure products. By integrating I/O virtualization, networking, and virtual storage technologies it provides a “wire-once” infrastructure, eliminating the need for additional hardware components and software integration.
When used in conjunction with Citrix XenServer, PAN Manager Software enables Citrix virtualized services (as well as physical servers) to provide an environment of integrated, “highly available” infrastructure that can deliver agility and business continuity.

Lou Shipley, vice president and general manager of Citrix’s XenServer Product Group, says he sees a growing need in the marketplace for datacenter virtualization platforms. PAN Manager’s Citrix Ready certification provides a solid solution, he suggests. “Jointly, we provide customers with a datacenter virtualization platform that can be leveraged to provide meaningful value in a multitude of different projects, such as the platform for cloud computing and desktop virtualization projects with XenDesktop.”
From Egenera’s perspective, the Citrix Ready validation means being able to provide customers with converged infrastructure solutions. “As a member of the Citrix Ready program, we are able to offer customers converged infrastructure solutions that combine PAN Manager with Citrix XenServer,” says Egenera CEO Pete Manca. “The offering demonstrates our continued plans to work closely with trusted partners, through the Citrix Ready partner ecosystem, and to deliver more open and customizable converged infrastructure products to the market.”
With the Citrix Ready certification, Manca adds, XenServer customers “can be confident that PAN Manager Software, the Dell PAN System, and the Egenera BladeFrame will work with Citrix XenServer to provide highly scalable and available environments for their server, cloud, or desktop virtualization projects.
