CompTIA Adds eLearning Courses to Its Training Offerings

Trade organization partners with Element K to deliver a broad range of Web-based education programs.

Industry association CompTIA introduced a new series of online learning courses last week. Offered in conjunction with learning solutions provider Element K, CCompTIA Adds eLearning Courses to Its Training OfferingsompTIA’s new online training program is likely to appeal to seasoned IT professionals and newbies alike.

The courses offer self-paced learning tools aimed at helping channel pros develop IT knowledge, technical skills, and enhanced performance levels. The courses can stand alone, as a part of an individual’s regimen in preparing for a specific certification or as companion learning resources to support and extend classroom learning.†

A 2009 CompTIA survey of more than 1,500 IT workers found that 82 percent of certification holders assign value to their IT certification, with about half reporting a positive firsthand experience in the area of promotions, bonuses, or other economic benefits as a result of being certified. These facts were cited by the trade association as it announced its new online courses.

According to CompTIA, the new eLearning online courses provide students with “a high degree of interactivity to reinforce basic skills.” The courses combine conceptual information and interactive procedural training. Lessons and course activities can be repeated as often as desired or needed.

“With CompTIA eLearning courses and our certification and certificate programs, individuals can empower themselves with qualifications and credentials to apply for IT jobs, qualify for promotions and build a stronger, more viable career,” says CompTIA senior vice president of skill certifications Terry Erdle. “Ongoing training and certification are key building blocks to meet the ever expanding and complex job requirements facing today’s IT workers.”

For Element K’s part, the company’s president and CEO Paul Krause say the partnership is part of his organizations “long history of providing effective, high quality training to help professionals achieve their career objectives.”

“As the leading developer of CompTIA training materials for both classroom and online delivery, we are proud to partner with CompTIA on this important initiative,” Krause adds.

CompTIA eLearning courses are available for CompTIA A, Network, Security, Server , Linux, Convergence, Project, RFID , and PDI certifications; as well as for the CompTIA Strata certificate program.
