D&H’s Mid-Atlantic Fall 2009 Tech Show to Spotlight Windows 7 and VIP Buying Incentives
Distributor says last show of the year will focus on growth opportunities for SMBs and the infrastructure needs of recession-borne entrepreneurs.
D&H Distributing, a North American computer products and consumer electronics distributor, will hold its Mid-Atlantic Fall 2009 Technology Show on Tuesday, Oct. 6 at the Hershey Lodge and Convention Center in Hershey, Penn.
This last show on D&H’s 2009 agenda will be one of its largest. The distributor expects more than 1,000 reseller attendees and more than 140 manufacturers at the event.
Seminars begin at 1 p.m. They will be presented by Microsoft, Cisco, HP and the Institute for Partner and Education (IPED).
The HP seminar will focus on earning percentage points via D&H’s “VIP” vendor incentive program. The theme of the Cisco session will be offerings and resources available “to drive the SMB portfolio.” Microsoft will discuss making money with Windows 7. IPED will host a “Channel Challenge” info session.
In addition, D&H solutions specialist Bill Hersh will lead a session about Windows Small Business Server ’08.
Exhibits open at 3 p.m. and close at 9 p.m.
Exhibitors include Lenovo, D-Link, Acer, ASUS, Linksys, Kaspersky Lab, Toshiba, SonicWALL, BenQ, Rebit, and SanDisk. Component and accessory manufacturers–including Case Logic, Peerless Mounts, Targus, La Cie, Cool Master, and Kensington Technology will also be on the floor.
The “Emerging Technologies Pavilion” will be located outside the main hall. This series of booths will spotlight ten new manufacturers, including Black Box Innovations (USB flash drives), I.R.I.S. (document imaging), Mach Speed (digital media players), NexAira (mobile broadband) and others.
In a company press release, D&H assures VARs that now’s the time to focus on growth. IT companies are being formed, the company says, as channel pros regroup after widespread layoffs.
“This trend is typical, and similar to the SMB gains that followed the 2001 recession,” the press release states. “In fact, a recent BusinessWeek article noted that 36 percent of companies on the Fortune 500 list were incorporated during recession years–as well as 70 percent of the list’s top 10 companies.”
Mary Campbell, vice president of marketing for D&H, says the Fall Show will focus on helping VARs through the economic recovery process. “We’re here to show VARs that opportunities are still being produced,” she says. “Hard times force people to become entrepreneurial. The start-ups that have been born from this recession need infrastructures, and they intend to grow.”
Registration for the event is free to D&H customers. Attendees of the event will have the opportunity to buy deeply discounted merchandise. One attendee from each seminar will win a Garmin nuvi 265WT GPS unit.
