Carbonite has shipped a unified backup asnd security solution for users of Microsoft’s Office 365 productivity suite.
Called Endpoint 360, the new system debuted during Microsoft’s 2019 Inspire partner event, which is underway now in†Las Vegas. It’s designed to provide automatic backup for desktops, tablets, and mobile devices, as well as security for the entire Microsoft Office 365 Suite, including SharePoint, OneDrive, Exchange, and Teams. This solution is available now to customers directly and to partners through the channel.
According to Microsoft, there were some 180 million active monthly Office 365 users as of April, and†fully 79% of organizations surveyed recently by†industry analyst firm†ESG say they†currently use or plan to use the Microsoft product. Accordfing to that same ESG study, however, 33% of organizations mistakenly believe that SaaS-based applications don’t need to be backed up.†Though Microsoft protects data against loss due to hardware or infrastructure failure, businesses need additional protection to recover data from lost or stolen devices, as well as to recover from accidental deletions, ransomware, and other types of unauthorized access.
Carbonite Endpoint 360 is the latest addition to a portfolio designed to†support Azure deployments and utilization by enabling server migrations†to Azure via Microsoft’s Azure Migrate portal, backup and availability of Windows servers and Hyper-V environments, and enterprise protection for Microsoft Windows endpoints, including Office 365 backup. It’s also the first solution to combine backup and security in a single package since Carbonite purchased Webroot earlier this year as part of a strategic move to position itself as provider of complete data protection solutions.
